Bonjour, friends!

I hope this recipe finds you snug and warm, wherever you may be. Here in Brittany, we’ve been greeted by what we call “brutally cold” weather to kick off the year. Now, for those of you accustomed to Midwest blizzards or New England snowdrifts, our “cold” might sound laughable - a mere 0°C to 5°C (32°F to 41°F). But this is quite unusual for our mild, coastal part of France. We surely don’t have snow (we almost never do), but the layer of frost on the beach sand in the morning is enough to make us all want to hibernate in our homes until winter is over. Sigh!

This being said, I feel like times like these call for homely, comforting meals, and that’s exactly what today’s recipe is for: heartwarming Meatballs à la Provençale. Nothing like a bit of Provençal sunshine to help brighten and warm these chilly winter days!

This recipe is actually a two-in-one: first, my favorite method for making tender and juicy homemade meatballs, and second, a delicious way to serve them in a luscious Provençal sauce. The sauce is infused with fragrant garlic, shallots, crushed tomatoes, briny black olives and herbs de Provence.
